Here is a list of goals I want to fulfill during my mentorship.
1. To gain more knowledge concerning Reform Judaism and the Torah.
2. To improve on my mastery of the Hebrew language.
3. To become comfortable speaking in a group setting in either a class or giving a speech.
4. To write and present a detailed sermon on the topic of my choice.
5. To be present at a few of the following life cycle events: baby naming, bris, consecration, bar/bat mitzvah, confirmation, wedding or funeral.
6. To co-write and lead a Shabbat or Weekday service.
7. To explore the administrative duties of a rabbi.
8. To take part in hospital visits and feel more comfortable in that setting.
9. To learn Jewish values and how they apply to political issues.
10. To experience different settings a rabbi may be involved in.
11. To design and complete a project which reflects new knowledge, skills and abilities.
As I begin reading more articles about becoming a rabbi and start my mentorship, this list will grow.
